This particular cat is often a cause of concern for people who meet her at the jetty for the first time as they can be alarmed by her noisy breathing which sometimes can sound a bit rattly.
Smartie as she is known is a well known and much loved cat at the jetty. She has lived here for a number of years, since she was a kitten. As a young kitten she was diagnosed with an Asthma type condition and her rattle when she breaths is normal for a cat with this type of long term chest condition. Her breathing gets better in the warmer weather but as we had 4 weeks of cold wet weather recently this would have caused her breathing to sound noisy.
You may see in our earlier posts on Facebook that she went missing for a while but we found her 8km away at a hotel, so when she was returned by one of our AGA volunteers she was checked over and given medication to help with her breathing. She's now gone missing again.
If you know where she us or know of someone who might have taken her in believing that she is poorly, please can you contact firstname.lastname@example.org as a matter of urgency, as a number of the cats are missing her.
